Our little life has changed a lot in the last couple of years. We sold our big roomy house to move to a small house with a BIG roomy yard:-) It’s only temporary yes, but the move moved us away from friends in the suburbs and closer to family and life in the country. Most of it I love. But with the small quarters, our bedroom is also our shared office, and items like guitars got put in places that are not so easily accessible. Tom used to have his guitar case on the floor in his office behind his chair, so when he needed a break or to refocus, he could simply turn around and play/sing a worship song or two and then be back to work. That doesn’t happen now. AND since we are transitioning our church as well he doesn’t play on the worship team anymore, which I know he REALLY misses, but he doesn’t NEED to practice.
He misses it, AND I so dearly miss it. I love when my husband plays, I love when he sings, I love how surrounded the boys were with worship music in our old house. Worship always centers me. I miss it. I was SO happy when he brought it out the other night and we sang CHRISTMAS songs! I mean worship + Christmas songs go hand in hand right? I actually think my niece had something to do with this development, as she was practicing her Christmas play songs while at our house and needed to look up the words to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”:-) SO thank you MJ, I hope we don’t have to wait until the new house is finished for this to become the norm again. SO if you visit us, ask Tom to play, or better yet bring your guitar and play with him!
