The boys had fun at the property today:-) Throwing Rocks, getting dirty AND rolling down the hill.  THIS is why we wanted property:-)  I love to watch them and let them be.  Although I do remind them to aim the rocks AWAY from our new windows:-).

I sat in the hammock while they played…Today was a day where peace flowed into my heart and stayed, it was a good day.  Worship this morning at church centered me, convicted, and refueled my heart for the week, fresh to seek and follow God’s lead:-)  It was a GOOD day.

It’s the THIRD week of 2015, and I am continuing the journey of capturing our life in an image a day!  I am SO thankful to be part of LightBox Stories and be inspired and encouraged by them to continue to tell my story.  Being a family and lifestyle portrait photographer I “sometimes” focus on documenting other people’s families through pictures, prints, art, and albums, and neglect to capture the memories of my own family:-)  This year I am trying to make sure that doesn’t happen:-)  AND as I keep challenging myself and shooting, I aim to improve my storytelling images so that not only does my family benefit, BUT you do too! It’s win-win!  Thanks for looking at the images of my life and reading my story!

Don’t know what I am talking about?  See week ONE and TWO of my 365 project here. I decided I wanted to document a story, so rather than a word or two for each image, I want to include the story behind each image:-)

Your parents treated us to dinner and theater.  We pick the restaurant, Hock Farm, and we were very happy with our pick!  The lighting in the restaurant was tricky, but thanks to looking for reflective light, I captured this!  After dinner we headed to the theater and saw a play adaptation of C.S.Lewis’ The Great Divorce.  I LOVE that you appreciate food, and the farm to table experience as much as I do:-)  Makes it easy to indulge in this treat!

We have been in a phase for a while which does not allow our boys to be in the same room while needing to complete a task.  Which means while one is brushing teeth the other gets MAJOR wrestle mania, one to have fun, and two to ensure their is no going in and distracting the brusher;-)

Today was all about Sunday snuggles for you, You climbed in daddy’s lap to watch football, and you only got out to play when our friends arrived.  You are a serious snuggle bug!  We don’t mind;-)

Peanut Butter Sandwiches, You can make them yourself, and you LOVE them.  Today you had FOUR halves! And an added bonus, we discovered that this small house has windows that give us great light!

I couldn’t pick just one image today.  I took you boys to Jamba Juice today AFTER your dentist appointment’s…It was Daniel’s first! You are now big enough that you can order and pay yourself, this makes me happy and sad at the same time.  And then as you sat and chatted while enjoying your smoothies I caught a sweet glimpse of your friendship, I hope as time goes on you will always be each other’s biggest fan, and best friend:-)

You have both been interested in drinking tea, so this morning while making our coffee, I made you tea, and we sat and celebrated that winter for the chickens (i.e. molting and non-laying time) seems to be waning, which makes us SUPER happy!  We love those fresh eggs:-)

you come home from Kindergarten and head straight to whatever lego project you were working on before school, you really dislike when we have to run errands because it cuts into your time:-)365_13

You and Gymnastics…gymnastics is good for you because it doesn’t come easy to you, it’s a great challenge, you love it and I think sometimes you hate it:-)  But it’s only because it pushes you, and as you try and gain strength and confidence you shine:-)  Right now you are practicing the Vault:-)  I am SO proud of you!365_14

Date night to look at appliances:-)  We couldn’t get into the restaurant we went to, so we went to our favorite grocery store, which happens to have a beer garden and grill:-) I am just happy being with YOU.

This year I decided to try a 365 project.  I joined a group of photographers all trying to complete their own so we could encourage and cheer each other on.  It’s really important to me to capture our life, and not let our adventures, and our story get pushed aside by my work:-)  SO I thought I would start sharing them here.  I am excited, and plan to make a book at the end of the year, with all our images!  So here is week ONE

This year I have decided to again try my hand at a 365 project.  In short I am attempting to capture my family’s story for 2015 in one image a day.  The reason behind doing this is different for every person who does it.  For me, I am a storyteller, and I want to do that in the best possible way.  I am always learning and trying new things, so by capturing images everyday for this project, I hope to continuing improving my craft and my story telling so that my family’s story is told, BUT also to benefit you my clients by improving my skills at lifestyle photography.  I am super excited to see what comes out of this project this year!  To help me a long the way I am honored to be a part of a blog circle, and a 365 group.  I am glad to have the support, the prompts, and the inspiration a photography community can provide:-)

The week was the beginning of 2015! It’s kind of hard to believe a new year is upon us.  It included:

Coffee Shop Saturdays, from the first days of our marriage, these are routine, not every Saturday, but plenty, it’s harder with kids but still a treat. I love our life:-)

You would read 24/7 if allowed, you have finished almost all your Christmas books on this the 4th day of 2015. You escape into worlds of fantasy created by the authors, someday I hope your love for reading coincides with your creative sides and we get to read about worlds you create in your head:-)

I am SO excited to capture my family, BUT I am EVEN more excited to be doing it alongside a group of talented photographers in a blog circle.  Once a month we will be blogging our 365 in “blog circle” style, which means we will link to each other so YOU can see all the great work that is out there, and hopefully be inspired:-) SO keep an eye out February 6th is our first official monthly blog.  In the meantime enjoy my weekly posts!

Like MY STORY and want me to tell yours?  Do you need new family images to tell that story on your walls, or in a book on your coffee table?  Are you looking at your kids and wondering, where the time goes, and how they got so big?  Do you want to celebrate who THEY are RIGHT now?  I would love to tell YOUR FAMILY’S story, and CAPTURE YOUR LIFE!   Send me an EMAIL, and we will grab a coffee and get to know each other!

I am a learner.  I love to try new things.  Sometimes in photography, I feel like I lose a little bit of creativity, and I try new things to find it again:-)  I have been reading about freelensing, but I was a little hesitant to take my lens off my camera and shoot with it detached!  And honestly it took a while for the super small focal area of the images to grow on me, until I tried it! We will see how much I actually play with it, but I am so glad I did it…Now I want a lens baby, or a tilt-shift lens so I don’t have to take my lens off for these fun shots!:-) Photographer problems!

This picture is not actually free-lensed, but I included it, because it is Holden to a T:-) 150104_01_BlogHe wasn’t super happy to be my model this day if I was going to make him stop reading!  These are not SUPER great images but I love them, and that they are different than my norm:-)150104_02_Blog150104_03_Blog150104_05_Blog
